You are currently viewing www.peganet.net (1998) – Southwest Florida’s largest ISP

Located in Fort Myers, Florida, PegaNet was the largest dialup ISP in the area.  It originally started out as Pegasus Software and Imaging in 1969, along with Pegasus Project BBS later on.  With the rise of the Internet in the early 1990s, they began offering dialup service for $15 per month.

The homepage has been been restored to the 1995-1998 version which included many areas of interest.  Some things you will find there are local business hosting, local business directories, software, and personal home pages.  Along with the site, the ftp has also been restored at ftp.peganet.net.  Some of the items you will find there are custom software, along with a CD-ROM image of their Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 dialup software.  This software is fully usable with a virtual modem and some minor modifications to Trumpet Winsock.

For those of you that want to explore the site, there are a lot of hidden gems to be found.  The personal home page section is loaded with unique personality, and has an early Geocities feel to it.

Personally, my family subscribed to this service from about 1994 to 1999.  I have a lot of memories discovering other parts of the Internet besides the web, because of the included software they provided.
