The Corporation was a comedy-focused website that was most active in 1996, centering around a fictional corporation named…well, The Corporation. While it does contain quite a bit of written content in the form of satirical articles, it was most well-known for its mock awards that it encouraged visitors to use in their homepages. While the articles do have a certain charm to them – they feel somewhat reminiscent of what one may have seen in early Cracked.Com’s early days – they are also very clearly dated and feel of the era. They never seem to have caught on quite like their awards did.
After a lull in activity lasting many years, it was revived in 2000 during the height of the dot-com bubble. It had a new layout, sold merchandise, and even made some new articles. However, it suffered the same fate as many others when the dam finally broke and the economic bubble burst. It quickly stagnated and once again shut down, this time for good.
This restoration is of the 1996 version, reflecting the state that the few who remember the long-forgotten website would be most familiar with.
