I first started "surfing the web" with friends at our local university library in the early-mid 1990s. I used to love watching the animated logo of the Netscape browser as it loaded a site, eagerly anticipating the flood of information that was about to display on my warm CRT screen. The 1990s Internet was a place of fun and discovery long before it became a haven of marketing data collection and a platform to bilk money from its users.
